About Assem
Assem is a 24-year-old medical doctor at the Faculty of Medicine, Alexandria University, a public health researcher, and a climate change enthusiast. He was born in December 1999 in Alexandria, Egypt.
In 2022, as the youngest board member, he co-founded the Global Researcher Club (GRC) –a global non-profit research network– to empower youth in tackling public health and climate change issues through research, training, and capacity building.
He led numerous local, national, and multinational research projects on vaccine hesitancy, climate change, & health, surveillance, and infectious diseases in vulnerable regions such as Sub-Saharan Africa, the Eastern Mediterranean Region, and worldwide.
In 2024, he graduated from a 2-year Research Education program at Alabama University at Birmingham where he coordinated a colorectal cancer project during the program. His efforts in research and awareness were recognized as the Egypt Scholars Student Support Award (ESSA) 2023.
Furthermore, he was recognized as the delegate of Egypt in COY18 and an alumnus of the USAID Youth Digital Leadership program. He working on numerous youth-focused initiatives, research projects, and awareness for sustainable development.
